Edit Wokshop Evaluation

For this Media process, we had to form a group of three people and create a very short film about an encounter hat anyone could have. For our work we decided to make a hostage situation where a kidnapper has an encounter with the person who made him do the job and he finds out that he kidnapped the wrong person. I will now answer some questions regarding the short film we made.

How did you use the 180 degree rule, rule of thirds & match on action?

I believe that the group struggled a bit on the 180 degree rule because we were confused on which one was right and which was not right. so we had to filming it again because after the first time we filmed, the technician man told us it was wrong so we filmed it again. However something went wrong in the filming process so we had to cross out the 180 rule scene out of our storyboard. As we see in the image below, the 180 degree is wrong.

What challenges did you face during production? What would you change if you were to film again?

I also believe that we didn't receive any challenges during the production process. This is because the group had a great chemistry and this may be because we all know each other well and got on well.

What challenges did you face during post-production? What would you change if you were to edit?

I don't believe we faced any problems during post-production because I think we edited very well separately as Chris explained how to use I Movie very well

What are the overall strengths of your work? Why? - creativity, planning and research, digital technology, post production.

I believe that a big strength of our work was that we knew how to use the digital technology well and we didn't have any problems with them because they were easy to use. Our creativity came into hand quite a bit when we were filming because we had to think of where we would film and we were looking for certain rooms and we found a perfect room because we thought of which room would be perfect to use and we found one with good lighting for the scene where it shows the person that's been kidnapped. We see that scene below in the story board.

What are the overall weaknesses of your work? Why? - creativity, planning and research, digital technology, post production.

I believe that a big weakness of the groups work was creating and planning the storyboard and this is because I believe we did not have enough time to think it through and the time lost may also go down to the fact that we had person in our group that was completely new to media studies and we spent quite some time explaining to him about most of it.

What overall improvements would you make to your work? Why?

I think that if we were to do it again, we would improve on focusing better on the story boarding because that was what let us down a lot, if we'd do it again we should discuss the scenes more whilst story boarding and we should always remember the rules because we forgot about the 180 degree rule. We should also focus next time on not making stupid little mistakes such as in one scene my hands would be on my face and in the next scene my hands would be in a completely different place.
