What were you asked to do?
In this unit of work, we were asked to make a promotional video for a choice of two separate charities and we got the charity of Ubuntu Arts.
Who/ what were you making the video about?
We were asked to make the video about this specific charity and we had to make it in an effective and creative fashion. To make a video like this you must add information about the organisation and by information it means things like who takes part in the organisation, what they do, why they do what they do, how they are funded, what they would like to show the audience. These specific aspects add up to make a good corporate video and we tried to ensure that we added all of this.
What was the purpose of the video:
The purpose of the video was to promote the organization by making them show what they do and what they offer. By showing what they offer it shows that they want to encourage other people that have a disability to use art as a way to express their feelings and emotions.
What did you do in each production stage?
For the pre-production process me and my group done some research on the Redbridge CVS which offers fundraising help, they also have a member of staff who can help small voluntary and community groups in Redbridge to raise fund. Ubuntu Arts get their help and funds from this. By watching a few videos and reading articles we found out that the charity aim to help people with mental disabilities and they try to get the most out of the people with disabilities by letting them draw paintings to let them express their feelings and emotions in a way that is more appropriate to them which is painting.
The production stage was fulfilled during the half term holidays and before the holidays started we had to email the service and ask when there was a preferable time that was suitable for them to let us interview them and record it on video camera. We arranged a date with them and went to meet them at the Redbridge Cvs centre in Ilford. The interview went very smoothly as we got a lot of information out of them because we asked a lot of questions such as what the aims of the service is, what the service actually does, what help they provide and who they aim to help. This amount of information was needed vitally as only then it would make a good and respectable video.
The post production stage also went very well as we fully reviewed all of the footage that we captured and edited it to the best standard possible and this was done by picking out the most important pieces of information needed and we also added things like cutaways from some paintings and leaflets that Ubuntu provided us for help. We also added some graphics such as fades to make it look more entertaining and nice.
What problems did you encounter and how did you solve them?
Throughout the process we did not really encounter any problems and this was a good thing as we worked more freely.
What were you strengths and weaknesses in each stage?
I believe that me and my group did not really have any weaknesses throughout the whole process. I believe that there were a few good strengths that I had during the process which were having good camera work and knowledge, this is because I remembered to use a tripod whilst filming the interview because videoing whilst hand-held means that it's very unsteady and the camera would keep shaking and this is not good.
What is your opinion of the finished product?
My opinion on the final product is that is was fulfilled to a very good standard as a lot of hard work was put in to the project. This goes down to the fact that we put a lot of time into it and had enough time to think about the media knowledge that we could have put in and this was done good as we put in a good amount of music, graphics and facts.
